Kai Two Feathers Orton - Modern Artist Kai Two Feathers Orton, Ph.D., is a First Nations (Innuinait, Tłı̨chǫ, Niimíipuu, Nēhiyawak) multimedia artist whose practice flows between disciplines, materials, and meaning. Rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing, Kai’s work brings together cultural memory, mathematical beauty, and storytelling across a range of mediums—from algorithmic origami and beadwork to botanical printmaking and mixed media painting. As a multimodal artist, Kai builds layered bodies of work that unfold over time. Her creative output currently spans five ongoing projects, each a distinct exploration of concept, technique, and form. Whether hand-folding pixel paintings from custom-coded patterns, mapping migration through dyed textiles, or weaving geometry into personal and collective narratives, Kai’s practice honors both structure and spirit. Her art is shaped by a lifetime of inquiry—scientific, cultural, and emotional. Each piece is part of a larger conversation between ancestral knowledge and contemporary expression. With a background in biophysics and a deep reverence for the land, Kai invites viewers to pause, reflect, and encounter the interconnectedness of all things.
