Somatic Maps

Somatic Maps is a recent and evolving project that showcases an inspired, meandering expression through abstract mixed media art. Drawing from neuroscience, somatic practice, and Indigenous teachings, each piece begins with spontaneous ink lines that map internal emotional states—grief, healing, release—and is transformed through guided, meditative mark-making and color layering.

Using watercolor, gouache, archival ink, pastel, and delicate embroidery, this series bridges intuitive motion with intricate detail. The process softens sharp edges—both literal and emotional—through a technique of rounding and repetition, creating compositions that feel both personal and ceremonial. Neurographics becomes a visual ritual of integration, revealing the pathways where thought, emotion, and transformation meet.
