FOLDED SCORES

Folded Scores explores translation through rhythm, repetition, and rule. Each work begins with a song, poem, or other text whose structure becomes a set of instructions for making. Repetitions, changes, pauses, and movements are translated into arrangements of individually hand-folded paper forms. The resulting compositions are not illustrations of their source material, but visual translations in which language and sound become pattern, dimensionality, and form.
